Josh, They are Sata drives, no jumpers, no cables. His laptop works fine with external keyboard and it tells me that settings are correct. Sounds like a problem with the video card. Do I take the hard drives out, and memory too?

Wilma, I have a HP Pavilion dv Personally I think there is something basic wrong with how the ABG card itself is designed hardware too sensitive to voltage levels perhaps? DV black screen caused by Nvidia defect. I did as you said. Now my pc looks and works pavilon brand new.
